Composition / Production / Live Electronics

Originally from the UK, Elie Gregory (b.1985) studied Composition at Birmingham Conservatoire and moved to Berlin in 2009 where they began the then french and somewhat lo-fi electro-pop project 'Strip Down'. With a portfolio ranging from electroacoustic and instrumental compositions to electro, Gregory went on to study a masters in 'Electroakustische Musik' (electroacoustic music) at the “Hanns Eisler” Hochschule für Musik in Berlin (2015-17).

Elie Gregory has had numerous performances of multichannel electroacoustic works with the 'Berlin Loudspeaker Orchestra' and ZKM's 'Kubus', which have both given a platform to and been instrumental in the realisation of the complexity and intricate nature of their work, having been performed at various concert venues and festivals, as well as being aired on national radio.

Music under the artist name 'Strip Down' has evolved and expanded to a range of experimental electronica with live visuals as well as an electro DJ set of original sounds encompassing contemporary soundscapes, electro basslines and classic synthpop elements.

Also having an interest in inclusive education, Elie Gregory runs composition workshops for young people and also has an active role in the Berlin feminist music scene, helping to organise the monthly discussion and performance space 'Meetup - Berlin'.

Influenced and inspired by composing for contrasting venues spanning from concert halls to underground clubs, recent works have been particularly focused on the spectrum between electroacoustic music and electro, and in turn, Strip Down has made the journey over the past years to what could be described as dense, glitchy experimental electronica.
